Meet the Billtrust Management Team
Flint A. Lane
Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Flint is the CEO and Founder of Billtrust. He has set the strategic direction of the company since its founding in 2001. Under his leadership, the company has enjoyed significant growth providing invoice-to-cash services to companies throughout North America.
Billtrust has earned numerous awards from business organizations including the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ and Inc. 500. In May of 2011 Flint was named as one of the 25 Most Influential Financial Operations Professionals by the Institute of Financial Operations (IFO) and that same year was recognized as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year®.
Prior to founding Billtrust, Flint was founder, President and Chairman of Paytrust, the leading electronic bill presentation and payment (EBPP) company with over 100,000 customers nationwide. He also held executive positions at Platinum Technology, Logic Works and BrownStone Solutions.
Flint currently serves on the board of the New Jersey Technology Council. He is also a board member and a volunteer big brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County and assists his local PTA with web projects. Flint received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Chief Revenue Officer
As Billtrust Chief Revenue Officer, Kirk leads the Sales, Business Development and Marketing teams. He is a veteran executive with experience at several financial and high tech firms. Prior to Billtrust, Kirk served as EVP of Global Sales and Marketing of ASG a $400 Million software company based in Naples FL. He joined ASG when they acquired RiverGlass where he was the CEO in October of 2011. RiverGlass provided advanced data mining to government agencies and Fortune 1000 Companies.
Kirk also brings to Billtrust his experiences from executive positions he held at CheckFree Corporation, BlueGill Technologies, Korn/Ferry International, and Intuit. He is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a BS in Finance.
Chief Technology Officer
James oversees all development activities for Billtrust. He has over 20 years of experience in building highly scalable and robust systems. James joined the company in October 2002. Prior to joining Billtrust, James was the Executive Vice President of Product Development for Paytrust, Inc. where he was responsible for all product development initiatives. Prior to Paytrust, he worked as a Development Manager for Logic Works, as a Senior Consultant at Atlantic Information Management and as Senior Product Analyst for the U.S. Army. MJames received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance from Mount Saint Mary’s College.
Chief Financial Officer
Ed leads the Finance and Administration functions for Billtrust. His experiences include over 30 years of working as a public and private company CFO. Before starting at Billtrust, Ed served as CEO of JAGTAG, a mobile technology company, CFO at Flarion Technologies (later was sold to Qualcomm), cofounder and CFO of ITXC Corporation, and CFO of Dialogic Corporation (sold to Intel). Ed also has extensive experience in the International technology markets with a specific emphasis on Brazil.
Ed’s accomplishments include guiding private companies through private and public equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions and the development of financial strategies for growth.
He is a certified public accountant and his experience includes working for Deloitte. In 2002, the New Jersey Technology Council named him “CFO of the Year”. Ed received his B.S. in Accounting from Lehigh University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Susan is Chief Marketing Officer and focuses on building the Billtrust brand and go-to-market strategy. She is a results oriented leader with over 25 years of consistent achievement in software and services, for both major global market leaders and smaller rapid growth businesses. Susan was part of the executive team that managed the acquisition of Princeton Softech, where she was CMO, by IBM.
Susan has held past executive roles at Revitas, Strategic Management Group, and Deloitte Consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communication from Drexel University.
Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer, Neil heads up Billtrust’s Technology team and drives both technical innovation and efficiency. In his 30-year career, Neil has served as Chief Information Officer for startups, midsize companies, and divisions of Fortune 500 companies, including Cendant and General Electric. Most recently, Neil served as CIO for Allconnect where innovative technology was the primary driver in the company’s 700% growth over his tenure.
In addition to innovation and IT leadership, Neil brings information security expertise to Billtrust drawn from his time with MasterCard’s fraud prevention team. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.
SVP, Client Success
Steve drives decisions that directly impact how Billtrust clients interface with and benefit from their Billtrust relationship. He manages Client Services, which includes implementations and professional services. Prior to joining Billtrust, Steve held executive positions at technology-centric companies such as Heat software, NC4, DataPath, Rockwell Collins, IBM, Candle Software and Oracle. During his career, he has consistently driven success based on putting the client first by building consulting and support teams who truly understand the client’s goals, and working in partnership to achieve those goals. He believes success for clients is a journey, not a destination, and requires continual commitment and focus on the part of any services organization. Steve received his B.S in Systems Engineering from Wright State University.
SVP & General Manager, Partner Solutions
Mitch heads up Billtrust’s Partner Solutions team. In this role, he is responsible for building and executing Billtrust’s reseller strategy. Prior to this role, Mitch led Billtrust’s marketing team, growing revenue ten-fold. Before joining Billtrust, he held senior level marketing positions with Coke, Mattel and Warner Lambert, and led marketing at the start-up company PointRoll, where during his tenure, revenue grew eight-fold and culminated in a sale to Gannett, Inc.
Through the course of Mitch’s professional career, he has created breakthrough marketing campaigns, successfully battled competitive threats, and led teams in the development of industry-leading new products. Mitch holds an MBA from Columbia University in Marketing and a BS in Applied Economics and Business Management.
SVP, Product Strategy
As SVP of Product Strategy, Nicole leads Billtrust’s product direction and user experience throughout the entire product portfolio. She has over 15 years of experience working with corporations and banks, providing a deep understanding of the varying expectations of users as they interact with hosted and cloud-based software systems. Prior to joining Billtrust, Nicole led product direction and delivery for Bottomline Technologies in their Global Banking business. Nicole’s past experiences also include leadership roles at State Street Bank, EMC, and Fidelity Investments. She is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in Management Engineering.
