New Case Study Available: ULINE Streamlines Cash Application Process with Open Scan, a Division of Billtrust

DENVER, CO – (May 15, 2014) – Open Scan, a Division of Billtrust, is the leader in financial workflow automation and announced today a new case study featuring Uline, the leading distributor of shipping, industrial, and packaging materials in North America.

The case study examines the results of Uline’s cash application process revamp: the implementation of Open Scan’s Corporate A/R Solution. Before Open Scan, nine full- time employees and four part-time temporary workers at Uline handled all cash app processes, manually processing 200,000 checks (300,000 invoices) per month.

Kurt Albright, Uline’s Director of Credit and Collections, sought a way to increase performance, accuracy, and overall efficiency of this manual process. He selected Open Scan to automate this process, which involved opening, scanning, sorting, and keying data for each of the 200,000 monthly transactions.

According to Albright, Open Scan’s Corporate A/R solution integrated almost seamlessly with Uline’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) System. The software addressed the entire receivables process, from image and data capture to remittance processing and matching, and from deductions and exceptions all the way to cash application.

When asked about Uline’s implementation of Open Scan, Albright said, “It all went very smoothly. We had no setbacks and we hit all the deliverables on time.”

By utilizing Open Scan’s system and offloading the majority of scanning to the bank, Uline freed up its resources and was able to remove its part-time workers from cash application and repurpose three of the nine full-time equivalents (FTEs).
