The best partnerships are complementary

The best partnerships in life, and in business, are complementary. Whether it’s the strategic synergy of a satellite radio subscription included with your new car or the simple genius of peanut butter and jelly, the most effective combinations bring different strengths together to achieve what each partner can’t do on its own. That’s why I’m so excited that we’ve joined forces with Coupa Software as both a Billtrust Referral Partner and Business Payments Network (BPN) Provider.

Coupa, as you probably know, is a leader in business spend management, and their accounts payable (AP) solutions are really the yin to Billtrust’s yang in accounts receivable (AR). Together, we’re bringing the power of business spend management together with the efficiencies of automated accounts receivable and integrated B2B payments, all to maximize the potential of both suppliers and buyers.

The partnership also addresses a major pain point for accounts receivable teams. The widespread adoption of AP platforms has created challenges for AR teams, as more companies ask their suppliers to pay through them. According to recent Billtrust research, over 350 accounting/finance senior leaders reported, “dealing with increasing numbers of customer portals” (38%) as a top concern while the majority of respondents stated that their teams interact with an average of 11-20 AP portals. Enabling invoices to be automatically delivered into Coupa customers’ AP portals speeds payments while relieving pressure on AR teams.

Above all, we’re leveraging our complementary strengths and common mission. And together, we’ll empower finance teams who want a connected, 360-degree offering, allowing them to effectively manage both AR and AP, making things better for suppliers and buyers. But that’s what great combinations (like PB&J!) do – create win-wins for everyone.
