Billtrust Celebrates National Philanthropy Day 2017 All Year Long
Doing good isn’t just a once-a-year activity here at Billtrust. The Billtrust Philanthropic Committee stays busy helping to make our community and the world a better place thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers who give their valuable time and energy.
The mission of Billtrust’s Philanthropic committee is to “focus on making this world a better place by increasing the well-being of humankind. The committee partners with and contributes to charitable organizations, causes and events where we can add value and provide assistance to help them achieve their goals.” With this imperative in place, the committee has reached out with a variety of programs and fundraisers. Here are just a few of the philanthropic efforts from the past 12 months:

Billtrust Gift Matching Program (All Year)
The Billtrust Gift Matching program provides matching funds for employee charitable donations, up to $500 per year, per employee. In 2017, this program has made over $8000 in donations to worthy charities.
Heart Health Month (February)
We asked employees to wear red once a week throughout the month in support of heart health awareness, and provided incentives and activities. In addition, the Philanthropic Committee shared heart health tips each week to encourage healthy lifestyles habits.
Keep America Beautiful (April)
In April, employees from each Billtrust office volunteered to spend a half a day planting trees and cleaning a local park. A total of 127 service hours were volunteered in 2017.
Habitat for Humanity (September)
Billtrust employees at our New Jersey headquarters and in our Denver office spent the day building homes for families in need. A combined total of 224 hours were spent in service of this worthwhile cause.
Cancer Awareness Month (June)
The Billtrust Philanthropic Committee coordinated the “Lavender of Love Walk” for our own organization. Employees across all offices walked two miles together to support their loved ones who won and lost their battles with cancer. Together we walked 134 miles in support and love.
Breast Cancer Awareness (October)
This year, the Philanthropic Committee teamed with Under Armour and designed a special shirt for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The shirts were sold to Billtrust employees for $20 each, and all proceeds were donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Over $2,400 was raised through this event.
The Philanthropic Committee has a lot of plans in store for the rest of the year, including a Veterans Day event, an off-site soup kitchen volunteering opportunity for Thanksgiving, as well as our annual Giving Tree and Adopt-a-Family holiday events in December. Each year, the committee plans meaningful events that bring the Billtrust community of employees closer, and helps us improve the lives of those in our surrounding neighborhoods as well.
On behalf of the entire Billtrust organization, we want to thank the hard-working members of the Billtrust Philanthropic Committee for all that they do. Thank you to Kimberly Perez, Caitlin Shaw, Tiffany Modeste, Barbara Camins, Brenden Bowman, Christina Pearson, Isaac Green, Jennifer More, Jill Weiner, Sharon Distase, Susan Pearson, Ye Parham and Bill Phillips.
