We’re Not In Kansas Anymore…

My children are grown, and it’s been some time since I’ve fully embraced Halloween. Don’t get me wrong, I love to see the little ones trick or treating, but a real celebration has been off my radar for a while. I definitely didn’t bring the Halloween spirit into the workplace, until now.

Another team here challenged my marketing team to a Halloween costume competition, and we accepted. I assumed it would be fun, but there was no way I could have predicted the final result. My marketing team won, which was great, but it was the planning and effort of my team that I found to be even more impressive.

The culture at Billtrust not only encourages, but fosters the kind of teamwork, collaboration and competition that turned our marketing team into a group of driven, spirited, giggling creatures. As a result, this amazing marketing team conspired to create a Billtrust Halloween experience like no other. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride as the team solidified the plan — complete with flying monkeys, a yellow brick road, and a real dog as Toto. We even convinced Billtrust CEO, Flint Lane to join us, as the Wizard of Oz (of course!)

What was the catalyst for finally crossing over into a place where you can be comfortable looking ridiculous as a grown woman dressed like a zombie Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz? Billtrust. I mean, I knew they took Halloween seriously (is that an oxymoron?), but I had no idea what I was in for. Billtrust inspires its employees to get involved, and in return it provides an environment that allows for creativity, innovation, and fun. What more could you ask for?

This was my first Halloween at Billtrust, and it was awesome. I can’t wait for next year!
