Below are just a few of the topics we discussed. You can watch the full video and get to know Zach face-to-face on our Tech + Product @ Billtrust page.

What are some of the technologies you have access to at Billtrust?

Billtrust aims to strike a balance between using innovative tools and long-term maintainability.

With that in mind, we tend to default to using CSharp and DotNetCore for backend services and Angular13 for frontend. We also rely on targeted tools for specific problems, including Elastic, Dynamo, Aurora and Sequel Server.

What is unique about Billtrust’s specific Engineering Department culture?

The Billtrust Engineering Department has completely adopted an agile methodology and prioritizes it daily. The development teams are fully-staffed with a manager, product owner and a manageable ratio of development to quality engineers, and projects are typically planned a quarter at a time.

The tools, techniques and investment that Billtrust puts into our team is second to none.

Who do you typically work with within Billtrust?

The tech team works alongside the product and business teams to prioritize and understand what the goals are for the company. The tech teams have an equal voice when it comes to deciding what needs to be taken on and prioritized – even when it comes to decisions that will be foundational to the company.

How does Billtrust measure success within the Development team?

Our development team’s success is measured within Billtrust’s success as a whole.

Since we work in partnership with our product and business owners, the ultimate goal is to create the best outcome for our customers so that they have the most success within their own businesses.
