Distributor achieves sustainability with electronic invoice delivery
85% OF INVOICES
Flexible invoice options
Global food distributor Chiquita Brands International, Inc. ships a variety of fresh foods globally to more than 70 countries, generating an annual revenue of about $3 billion. With the amount of daily activity, they recognized that outsourcing their invoice delivery process would help them save money and make their in-house accounts receivable (AR) team more productive. Chiquita originally selected a vendor to help with this project, but ultimately found that they didn’t deliver on expectations. Many customers didn’t receive their bills on time — if at all — and Chiquita knew they needed a tighter vendor partnership to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
Chiquita partnered with Billtrust on electronic invoicing, and achieved incredible success. Billtrust started by redesigning invoices and statements, and offering Chiquita customers multiple automated invoice delivery channels, including print and email. Billtrust also set up customized presentment and payment sites for each of Chiquita’s unique brands. Chiquita’s print customers even get their invoices faster thanks to Billtrust’s network of print centers around the U.S., which offer optimized delivery times.
“Working with Billtrust was a great decision for Chiquita. We’re extremely pleased and continue to achieve our productivity targets.”Megan Locke,
Credit Analyst, Chiquita Brands
Since switching to Billtrust, Chiquita’s paper and electronic invoicing is seamless. They now deliver more than 85% of their invoices electronically, which supports the organization’s commitment to sustainability and responsibility. With next-day processing from Billtrust’s Merchant Services, Chiquita now gets paid 10 times faster. Customers are also happier because the timing and accuracy of their invoice delivery is better than ever.
