Edges Electrical Group Scales AR without Sacrificing Service

Edges Electrical Group has been a Billtrust partner for over 16 years. Director of Credit Deana Reynolds explains how Billtrust’s accounts receivable automation solutions have saved her team time, improved customer experience, and supported the company’s growth from 75 to 350 employees. From streamlining invoicing and payments to enabling automation and compliance, Edges has vastly expanded receivables without needing to expand the AR team. When Edges first got started with Billtrust, they had six branches and about 75 employees. Today, their company and their AR operations look significantly different.

“As our company continued to grow, Billtrust grew with us. They began adding additional products such as the eCommerce solution and the online payment portal. We’re using them for Digital Lockbox now, and we’re evaluating the automated Collections platform as we speak. So, we are now about 350 employees and 12 branches, and it’s 16 years later, and we still are with Billtrust.”

Electronic invoicing adoption has greatly improved efficiency for both the AR team and Edges’ clients.

“Years back, we spent a lot of time just sending customers invoices and statement copies. Throughout the years, we have encouraged more and more of our customers to enroll in self-service, through Billtrust’s payment portal. Now, the majority of them are logging on and getting their copies themselves.”

As Edges has grown through organic growth and acquisitions, Billtrust has enabled the AR team to sustainably scale their business.  

“We went through a merger in 2015, which effectively doubled our size, and now 10 years later, we’ve doubled our size again. But our AR and credit teams have maybe doubled once. That’s because Billtrust’s services have allowed us to continue to grow without having to add more people. Because all of our AR tasks are automated, we’re not having to do the work manually.”

The most significant benefit they recognize is time savings.

“The greatest benefit that Billtrust has given to me and my team, honestly, is the gift of time. All of the automation that Billtrust delivers has taken tasks out of our hands, so we can spend our time on more high-level activities like collections activities, researching disputes for customers, and giving our customers more personalized service.”
